TL;DR — Still working on the game. A lot has changed with it, but still has the same spirit. We are no longer offering coupon codes for new orders, but will still honor it for existing ones.

Hi everyone! We've been quiet for a while, so I wanted to give an update on what's been going on with Beautiful Monsters. We're still working hard on the game, but progress has been slow due to just... lots of life stuff. You know how it is.

A lot has changed since we first uploaded it here:

• Simplified some game mechanisms that were adding fiddliness with no real benefit, particularly with scoring.
• Instead of having Criteria on their own set of differently-sized cards, we've put them on the back of each Monster card. Gives the same amount of gameplay with fewer cards (therefore cheaper to produce).
• Fine-tuned lots of graphic design, particularly with how we display traits on Monsters and Accessories. It's much easier to parse information now.
• Alix has adjusted and/or outright re-designed some of the Monster and Accessory illustrations. They're looking fabulous!

Once we've locked in the design, we'll upload the new files here. If you've already purchased the game, you will, of course, get those new files for free.

We've also been looking into alternatives to The Game Crafter (that's the site we've been planning to use to produce the final product). It seems like a great service, but it feels unnecessarily expensive for something as basic as a 36-card game. I've also heard that non-US buyers get hit with some nasty extra fees. We have a lead on a potential new service that, we hope, will let us produce the exact same game for much cheaper and be more friendly to those outside the US. Fingers crossed.

Regardless of which service we go with, we will still honor the coupon codes we promised for orders that have already been placed. As a reminder, that coupon code will be for the amount you paid for this Print-and-Play, up to a maximum of $5. Please do note, though, that we will no longer be offering coupon codes for new orders.
